Update from the Chair - November 2026
We were very disappointed to be turned down by the National Lottery for the second time, despite glowing testimonials for Lucy's role from Sally Yalden, the Parish Council, TVBC, St Francis School and many local residents. It appears that there is less money available because we are buying less lottery tickets.
So as things stand, Lucy will be finishing at the end of February, which will be a big loss as she has a gift for devising, organising and running events for the whole community which are very popular.
However, the trustees and remaining staff are determined to mitigate this loss by trying to find alternative sources of funding, organising events ourselves and looking for more volunteers/trustees who can help. However, we don't have a monopoly on good ideas and suggestions, so if you have any thoughts on the matter, please email me directly at chair@valleyparkcommunity.co.uk
In other news, thanks to all those who came along to do some litter picking at the end of September. We filled 10 bags with rubbish. Our regular stalwarts, Pete & Meggie were there as usual and it was good to see a few new faces too, one of whom said the experience was therapeutic.
This month, we have a range of activities arranged for you, including Autumn wreath making, bingo, Christmas crafting and a barn dance, along with the regular events. Please have a look at our website for more details.
