M27 Junction 10 Works – Major Progress and Upcoming Closure Plans

Hampshire County Council is progressing with significant improvements to the M27 at Junction 10, in support of the Welborne Garden Village development. The project will transform the existing junction into an ‘all moves’ interchange, including a new motorway underpass, three new slip roads, and a dual carriageway to connect to the local road network.

The underpass is currently being constructed offline, north of the motorway, and is scheduled to be moved into place during an extended closure of the M27 between Junction 9 (Whiteley) and Junction 11 (Fareham) over the Christmas 2025 / New Year 2026 school holidays. During this time, traffic will be diverted along the A27.

Traffic modelling has shown that the busiest period is expected to be between 10am and 5pm, and preparations are underway to minimise disruption along the diversion route. Full details, including closure dates and the diversion plan, will be announced in Autumn 2025.
